Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the management of the company's day-to-day operating activities, including: process development and improvement; metrics collection and analysis; performance reporting; expense, cost and margin control; and monthly and annual financial goal management. The COO also provides advice and counsel that will enable the company to maintain stability and profitability while simultaneously continuing to grow and enhance its performance.
Responsibilities:
General
- responsible for oversight of the firm's business management, accounting, and human resources,
- ensure that the firm's financial and operational policies and procedures provide adequate controls over assets, contracts administration, revenue generation, expenditures and financial reporting,
- regularly identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve operating efficiency, and
- participate in all aspects of strategic planning and business development.
Accounting/Reporting
- oversee all aspects of accounting to include general ledger management; invoice processing; accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, payroll processing; and tax filings,
- provide complete, accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting,
- prepare weekly revenue projections, and
- develop budget templates and monitor performance against budgets on a monthly and annual basis.
Sales/Contracts Administration
- provide ongoing assistance to sales team in preparing client proposals and structuring client transaction terms,
- oversee contractual relationships with clients and suppliers, and
- draft, negotiate, and administer client and vendor contracts.
Human Resources
- manage all aspects of human resources to include recruitment and retention, benefits planning and administration, employee relations, and training,
- assess compensation and benefits programs on an ongoing basis, and
- oversee relationships with brokers and service providers.
Client Service
- provide monthly reporting to client teams to monitor service levels,
- assess project profitability and suggest corrective action where appropriate
Information Technology/Systems
- lead implementation and ongoing management of software to automate new business tracking, project management, resource allocation, billing, revenue recognition, and metrics reporting.
Requirements
This position requires:
- approximately 15 years experience leading finance and operations in a consulting or professional services organization;
- ability to work with limited direction to streamline and improve existing process and procedures;
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field;
- extensive reporting and financial experience skills; and
- knowledge of QuickBooks accounting system and project management systems.
