Website Design & Development

Although users claim that they look for content first when evaluating the credibility of a website, a 2002 study from the Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab concludes that they actually focus primarily on design look when deciding whether or not a given website is credible. In advocacy in particular, the 2008 presidential campaign has brought to light to power and importance of design in engaging and motivation at the grassroots level.

Our award winning web design team has built literally thousands of sites for a vast range of clients and causes. These sites have been praised as "beautiful," "elegant," and even "stunning" (much like ourselves). But we are most proud that they have also been lauded as incredibly effective.

The Process

Design at Grassroots is a verb. Not a noun. It's a way of thinking. Design provides the framework upon which we can effectively answer the questions "Who are we looking to reach?" and "What do we want them to do?" As such, it makes sense that any design process by accurately framing the problem that we're looking to solve.

Discovery

The process is kicked off with a discovery phase in which we immerse ourselves in your world. Depending on how well characterized your audience is and how well your messaging is developed, discovery may be as straightforward as reviewing existing your market research and strategic planning documents. It may be as complex as primary ethnographic studies. Usually, it is somewhere in between. Realistically, a series of stakeholder interviews coupled with an audit of your current marketing planning and communications are usually enough to inform our strategic direction.

Strategy

Once we know who we are trying to reach and what we want them to do, we are able to develop a creative strategy to effectively inspire them to action. We will use this strategy not only to inform our design but to act as a sounding board upon which to judge it.

Design

Discovery and strategy frame the communications problem. Design provides the answer. Our design phase begins with complete information architecture from site mapping to page level wireframes. Once we have completely planned the user experience schematically, we move on to visual design. In visual design, we overlay branding and emotion to add depth to the user experience.

Implementation

We bring your design to life using current best practices in web development. And we'll deploy your site on Multiplier, our advocacy platform to ensure that, not only, can you update your site whenever you like but that you can track and manage the actions that your advocates take on your behalf.
