"Best Lawyer Under 40"

(SAN FRANCISCO, December 6, 2004) Grassroots Enterprise, Inc.'s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, David Chiu, was named one of the country's "Best Lawyers Under 40" by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Grassroots Enterprise Chairman Mike McCurry, the former White House Press Secretary, applauded Chiu's distinction. "As a company founder and key senior executive, David is business savvy and community faithful, a rare and welcome combination in public affairs," said McCurry.
Chiu was selected from a competitive field of nominees and awarded the prestigious distinction for "attaining preeminence in his legal endeavors and exhibiting steadfast commitment to community and public service, particularly in the Asian Pacific American community," said NAPABA officials.
"NAPABA's work has been a powerful source of inspiration to those in the Asian Pacific American community, the legal community, and to anyone who cares about civil rights and equal opportunity for all," said Chiu. "I am truly honored by this award, and privileged to be recognized by an organization of such a high caliber."
Prior to his tenure at Grassroots Enterprise, Chiu held positions as Democratic Counsel to the U.S. Senate Constitution Subcommittee, as a criminal prosecutor with the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, as a staff attorney with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, and as law clerk to Judge James Browning of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
The national honor recognizes talented individuals within the Asian Pacific American legal community under the age of 40 who have achieved prominence and distinction in their field. NAPABA is the only national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students, providing a national network for its members and affiliates.
